iPod interface

Hi, I'm new to to the site (but not to LR, 3 Range Rovers, 1 Discovery and a 12 seater 109 Safari) I am looking for a Freelander 2 HSE and need to fit it with an iPod interface.
So far the only way I have found is to use the Parrot Asteroid Mini, or Asteroid Tablet. The additional screen is not an elegant solution, but is the only solution I've found that allows a decent view of track info. Any thoughts?

That's easy. The 2013MY iPod interface is perfect; full browsing, track info, etc. not to mention charging and Meridian quality sound! Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red
Gone... 2008 (09MY) XS Td4 Manual Stornaway Grey
Prior... 2003 G4 Discovery 2, 1998 Disco 1 and 1997 Disco 1 Company car before that
Also gone in Nov'13, after 7.5 yrs, to new owners with time for more TLC - 1980 Series III 88
Current 2015 Discovery Sport HSE 2.0

If I could find a 2013 HSE for change out of 」25k it would be no problem. Failing that, perhaps someone has useful feedback on the Parrot devices, or an alternative.

Yes they do one, but it has very limited use in a Pre MY13 model p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

There was an interface, but it did not show info on sat nav or radio screen. You could skip tracks on steering wheel controls, but with no info to let you know where you were. I have been told by LR guy that there were problems with customer disappointment, plus the device was unreliable.
The Parrot devices have their own screen and a remote that functions in a similar way to the BMW Idrive controller (rotary scroll wheel + buttons)

There's one on Auto Trader for 」27k it's an SD4 HSE Lux...I have a feeling it's an ex LRE car, so Dealer may be up for a further deal?

2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Bali Blue

I have a Parrot MKi 9200 installed in mine, very good for getting music from a variety of devices into the car (SD Card, iPod/ iPhone via connector and also Bluetooth streaming from the iPhone.) it's a little annoying that all music played through the parrot has its volume controlled by the wireless parrot remote rendering the steering wheel controls unused. They also dont work for the phone controls (green and red) again you need the wireless remote. As you said, it's not an elegant solution however it does do the job with regard to the audio. I also think the quality of the hands free audio is marginally better on the parrot.

I've not read much about whether a compatible one exists for the FL2 but I believe you can get parrot wire bundles that allow the steering wheel controls to work.

Tom

LandRover Experiance car are sold on, normally high spec, well looked after, but obviously been off road, but I would say not abused off road, normally through a closed dealer auction were dealers can buy to sell to public etc

The cars that are destroyed are the test mules, even the finally product ones Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for the valuable input. The audio company, Enigma of Ashford, tell me that the asteroid installation allows for use of the steering wheel controls. I was referred to Enigma by the LR main dealer (only LR dealer that understood what I was trying to achieve)
I may decide to delay purchase for a few months to see if 2013 model prices drop a bit.
Any further advice most welcome.

LRE cars are sold on through a closed auction as stated previously. They haven't started with AK for at least 2 years. Most currently start with O
