Hi new to the site lot of great info, I need to update my tyres shortly, I have 235/65/17 at the moment but was looking at Yokohama geolandar at-s g012. 245/70/17 , will these fit ok. Has any one got this size on and are they a good tyre. Many thanks Davie

Those Geolander AT/S are a good tyre, I never had a problem with them and they lasted over 80,000kms. Others have put that size on but it looks a bit tight from the pictures for me. I have 245/65/17 on mine and have had absolutely no issues and they're better off road than the 235's. The 70 profile would give an extra 10mm in height over mine and mine has an extra 10mm..ish over the 235's. I have Maxxis Bravo AT700 on at the moment as they are cheaper by $70 a tyre and they seem fine. My next set will be General Grabber AT2's. Cheers.
PS I haven't had the wet road issue mentioned in the other thread with any of my tyres. My car seems to stick like glue, very happy with it that way.

Thanks for replies, and many thanks mikehzz , I've had a few jeeps over the years and never had wet weather problem they've always been good too, had my freelander for 6 months now clocked 10,000 miles with no probes at all , I do quite a bit shooting and need a better tyre for off road use as well, Iam Doing a lot of road work just now but that will change in a couple months once I move house. I was looking at wildpeaks and kuhmo as well. But kinda like the look of the geolandar.

I fitted a set of the larger 245/70 X 17 General Grabber AT2's after a fair bit of research a couple of months ago as in the thread below ;

As you can see in the pics in the thread they fit ok but I think that is about as large as you can go on the standard suspension.

I am still pleased with the larger AT2's and although they probably don't feel quite as planted on the road as the original Good Year Wranglers they more than make up for any shortfalls with the increased ground clearance off road, significantly increased grip off road and I think they look good and suit the Freelander 2's.

As I also do a bit of shooting I had fitted the Mitchelin Latitude Cross tyres.

I had my wheels balanced today and saw one of the most stupid things I have ever seen.

A young Asian lad had put a tyre (part worn almost bald) onto a rim and proceeded to sling an air canister, about the size of a BBQ gas cylinder, onto his shoulder, he then opened the valve and nearly spun himself around with the pressure that blew the tyre onto the rim, he then proceeded to inflate to pressure in the normal way, is this something that happens a lot? seems damn foolish to me
