Weekend break - UK

Looking for suggestions for a long weekend break in a nice hotel with the wife (nice within reason not hundreds per night Laughing ) to see a end to my thirties and bring in the forties

Somewhere to take a day exploring the local towns, theater or something, relax and maybe a spa or something to while away the days with a beer

Hotel, cottages, pub b&b etc

Why have you done and could suggest? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I wonder if room service, includes scrapping me off the floor and tucking me into bed Rolling with laughter Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

A bit far to be fair but you could try St Andrews. Been loads of times and it is a great place and quite upmarket so to speak. Highly respected Uni, plenty of historical places of interest, fine dining and of course it's the holy grail of golf.

We aren't golfers (until recently lol) but the town itself is outstanding. We have always stayed on a holiday park so not sure about hotel prices but bound to be something well priced.

This is the park we stayed in (short breaks available via telephone enquiry): http://craigtounmeadows.co.uk/

I thoroughly recommend the train if you can stretch to it. The east coast scenery at Berwick on Tweed is superb Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

+1 for the Lygon Arms...great place, I was taken for a weekend there to celebrate my 40th. If you go here, make doubly sure that you stay in the main house, and not the 70's built annexe out the back. Beautiful spot, lots to see and do from Broadway as well. Thumbs Up Foraging near Gaydon....
