Bird dropping damage to paintwork

I recently found that some large bird had unloaded its bowel on the edge of the roof of my FL2. Now I know people say that you should remove such bird droppings promptly to avoid paintwork damage, but somehow I was lulled into thinking that based on past experience, LR paintwork was good enough to withstand it. Razz

Seems that my optimism was NOT so well placed. When I finally got around to thoroughly wetting the offending droppings, it was evident that the clear lacquer coating was now bubbled-up and rough to touch. Any suggestions how I can now deal with this myself? Or do I need to get a paint body-shop to fix it? Rolling Eyes Life is not a dress rehearsal!

You could try a cut and polish,i've never had bird damage over Megs 16 it seems to protect pretty well.

Kind of sounds too far gone to have the etching machine polished out

Any chance of a photo? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Theres bird droppings and bird DROPPINGS, yours must have been the local Albatross, and like a seagull their poop is like a stucco araldite mix, it will wreck any finish if not wiped straight off.

I keep bird dropping remover in the car. I don't know if its because my cars blue but it seems to get a lot more seagulls cream on it compared to my white Evoque or previous white Fl2. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Or you didn't notice it as much. Whistle

I've got some Auto Glym bird dropping wipes in the car, individually wrapped so they don't dry out. Thumbs Up
