Hello all
Just returned to an FL 2 and wonder if anyone can help. I often leave the tailgate open with the dog in her cage and on the Disco could switch off the loadspace light so as not to drain the battery. On the FL2 I can switch the interior roof lights off but cannot seem to have the loadspace light off as well. Does anyone know if it can be done or do I have to remove the bulb. FL2 2013 HSE Lux Orkney Grey

I've got an LED festoon in mine.....uses a lot less juice (i think) and doesn't get warm, alternatively you could put a small in-line switch in?? Wouldn't be too much hassle?

Thanks. I might end up putting a switch in but guess I would need to find a way to get at the correct wires which might not be easy and don't want LR to say the warranty is invalid if anything ever goes wrong at a later date. FL2 2013 HSE Lux Orkney Grey

I had my tailgate open for a few hours yesterday and locked the car, boot button to open it on the fob

I noticed later on the boot light was off, the blackvue was still running so I don't think it was due to battery voltage dropping Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

my last 2 freelanders,..59 plate and 61 plate,after about 20/30 mins the interior lights go off,if you then open a door they come back on,,and again,,,go of in 20/30 mins,...... Current: Freelander 2 GS, Orkney Grey, Factory fit privacy glass, design pack and Clearview pack. Almond Leather ,rear spoiler,rear mudflaps.my13.

Shortly I'm going to add a post on interior lights upgrade. Change the front interior light for one off a Ford Focus (£3.00 from breakers), buy a spare centre light trim from Dan at Duckworths and fit the removed front interior light in the headlining centrally above loadspace. Make an extension cable with connectors and fit to original light harness to bypass original mini light. Fit led festoon.

1/. The original poor loadspace light
2/. Give you a switch to turn off if needed
3/. Look very original above load
4/. Give front map lights to non hse cars

You can fool the car into thinking the tailgate is closed simply by using something to flip the latch closed. It's a 2-stage latch, so you need to push up the latch until it clicks twice, then after the usual timeout the lights will go off and the car can be locked in the usual way. (Just single-lock it, of course, or the alarm will sound due to movement in the car.) Before closing the tailgate just open the latch using one of the usual release mechanisms (keyfob, tailgate switch, dash switches).

I'd strongly recommend closing the latch using something you can leave hanging from it as a reminder - otherwise you'll forget, close the tailgate without opening the latch first, and potentially damage something! I use a short bungee cord for this.

I use the same trick when carrying long loads which stick out of the back of the car - use (usually two) bungees to close the latch, then fasten the other ends to the load or the car. Keeps the tailgate partially closed and can help secure the load too.

Just pop the bulb out job done

yup.. i timed it... Once the ignition is off, it takes 20 - 30 mins to switch the power off at the interior lights (i wired an auto dimming mirror to the interior lights, so i had to be 100 % certain!)
