Improving dipped headlights

Hi. Forgive me if this question has been asked before but am I alone in finding the deep beam not bright enough for fastish driving? I have a2012 Freelander2. Is there a simple bulb upgrade and is it easy to tackle? The dip beam is indeed far better than my old 1999 Range Rover but I feel it could be better. Thanks. [/b]

I had Osram nightbreaker plus bulbs in my previous vehicle, made a massive difference.

Do a search for dip+ beam, there are many results including recommendations for lamps and how to fit for projector lights.

I also run 'Osram Nightbreaker Plus', been in for 2 winters now so quite reliable. Fitting is 5 minutes per side.

They really do make a difference to the 'dipped' beam

Thumbs Up

I had my FL2 a good few months and to be honest all night time driving was done on well lit streets. First time I went on an unlit road I thought I had a light out! I soon ordered nightbreaker plus bulbs from Amazon. I know some people on here have also changed the full beam bulbs to nightbreaker plus bulbs but I don't know if this has made a difference on full beam or not. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I put Nightbreakers in both dip and main beam. There is a difference on main beam but a lot of it is due to the dip beam which stays on.

Nightbreaker Bulbs

I recommend you change both dip and mains together, by the time that you are fiddling about taking the headlights out you might as well bite the bullet, hit the wallet and do all, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Please do remember NOT to touch the bulb glass with your fingers, and, if you do mishandle by accident then clean the glass with a solvent like brake aerosol cleaner or cellulose thinner and kitchen paper towel to polish up.
((Finger print grease residue on glass bulbs wrecks the life expectancy dramatically)).
.
I'm still looking for a LR passenger side step!!

At the end of the day its everyones personal preferences. I have just replaced the stock H7 bulbs with the Osram Nightbreaker plus and am disappointed with them. Still that yellow tint.

In my last car I replaced the stock bulbs with Xtec H7 super white Xenon HID Class 4200K. These do produce a very white light which in my opinion is much better for visibility. And they are road legal as well. Oh and at less than a tenner off fleabay they aren't going to beak the bank if they are not to your liking.

I've just ordered a pair to replace the new dipped beam Osrams. Save those as spares.

But as I say everyone has their own preferences

I'd be interested to see a picture of those lights once fitted (in the dark of course). Are they definitely legal?

I've got the LED side lights and they are super white compared to my upgraded Ring Xenon ultimas. They are supposed to be brilliant white but are very yellow.

+1

I bought a set for about £20 and they have made a huge difference. They're not brash boy racer bulbs and they won't melt the retinas of oncoming motorists but they will definitely make night driving a whole lot better. Whereabouts unknown stop going to follow stream until reach civilisation stop message ends
