Evoque rims on Freelander 2

Hi Guys
I have been offered a deal on a set of new Evoque 18" rims & tyres questions is although they fit perfectly, the Fl2 is some 200 kgs heavier than the Evoque so I'm wondering if they will be safe structurally on the Fl2 or not ?

Cheers Mike

I think the wheels have a weight rating on them? Maybe wrong, many have used them and the difference at 50kg a corner is not huge, I would think the wheels are built to a certain spec and the FL would be well within that spec.

They will be fine.

You also have to consider that on the tyres, for example 19" wheels, the 235 55 19" tyres used on Freelander and Evoque are the same tyre spec. When I had my 19's, during her service last year, I looked at the 19's on a Evoque, and the speed rating and weight rating on the Continental's were identical to mine.

There is also quite a difference in Freelander weight between a base S Model and the top end HSE model.

The wheels themselves are built to the same standards and will more than likely be manufactured to work with much higher weight, as when used off road, the wheels are under more stress at times and exposed to short hard shocks.

I have had my Evoque 20" wheels on now for nearly a year and Tow with them. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I have had mine on for nearly a year, and tow my caravan as well. I have to say the Michelin tyres are a lot better than the Continentals I had on the 19's. they seem a lot quieter, and the MPG has not changed.

Although mine are 20's, they are for sure no harder than the 19's I had on before, Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I think its really only the factory fitted 20" tyres from the evoque that have the lower 99V load rating compared to the 18" and 19" tyres which have an equal rating. The factory fitted 20" tyres are also a slightly smaller diameter compared to an 18 or 19 one. ... which is why i fitted 255/45 instead of the evoque's 245/45 size. a benefit also being that the 255's have a higher load rating as well that matches the 18 and 19 setups.

Does the 255 tyre fit without any problems? Is this the widest you can go..... MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I would not change to a tyre size that is not a standard LR size. Opens up too much room for debate if you get any running gear issues on a new car with crap dealers and warranty etc. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. LR Nut,

On a set of 20" evoque alloys, 255 width tyres fit fine, With them fitted there is still more clearance than a set of 17" alloys with 235 tyres on due to the different offset that the 20" alloys have.

Mav,

Whilst I do agree to a point about deviating from what LR fit, compared to 245, the diameter of the 255 tyre is actually a closer match to the tyre diameters of 17,18 and 19" wheels that LR fit. To me, there is no drivetrain issue with fitting 255.

If you were to go bigger than that, then yes, there is potential for drivetrain issues.

Her Ladyship has the same Evoque wheels as Slaneydore on her FL2 with the factory fitted Pirellis. It is a smart looking alloy tyre combination that gives a comfy ride with low tyre noise. Thumbs Up

Would the range rover wheels fit onto the MY13 Freelander?
