Hi, I have a 07 Freelander 2 TD4 GS, the driver seat seems to have broken on the left side at the rear and now rocks, a little scary when you go around left hand bends.

the seat is not electric.

when the car went in for a service the garage said that it requires a new seat base frame. the price for replacing and fitting is £552.00 +VAT. part number LR023497. I can't warrant paying this for the seat so i am now looking around for a cheaper option.

Searching around on eBay i have found what's described as a seat base frame for a Freelander 2 but, has a different part number - LR003020

does anybody know if one number has superseded the other? LR023497 replacing LR003020?
will the LR003020 seat base frame fit my car?
how easy is it to remove and replace the seat base?
does anyone have a parts catalog?

any help or advice would be gratefully received

Have you thought of removing the seat, unclipping the seat base material and investigating the damage. It might just be a case of the break needing a small weld repair.

PM Mav71, there's not much he hasn't unbolted on his car, one of which was to replace the seat bases.
I'm sure if he knows he will help you out.

I'm guessing its out of warranty ?...
I've just had my seat fixed under warranty . SD4 Sports LE Black ...

Regarding the difference, there's 4 way adjustment against 6 way and LH drive against RHD, check your VIN number in the right hand columns.

Morning, I would have a look inside before you start looking for new seats.

The seat base does include several mechanical parts.

Give Steve at Classic Car Services a call in Leicester. Www.classiccarservices.co.uk

He would remove your seat and have a look to see what is wrong. I would imagine it would only take about an our to an hour and a half of labour to remove the seat and allow Steve to find out what the problem is.
