Yawn

Test drive a Lamborghini you can't drive on a road, went on about a Porsche that was old, but new and wrecked some caravan in yet again another pointless waste of licence payers money

Would be interested in their reasoning on dropping the FL2 though Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

It's a bit of fun, Something that is lacking on the BBC these days. There is no longer any good sitcoms such as only fools and horses, open all hours, porridge and the great last of the summer wine.

The TV is full of celebrity game shows, what happened to the normal game show format. Reality series full of z list celebs and soaps. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I agree with npinks. What a waste of time and money. But I suppose if you spend all your life driving Lambo's, Porsches etc then a Tiguan or whatever is going to seem mundane. I'm afraid the fun factor has long left TG, and even Jezza made a comment during the show about the 'same old formula' and then commented 'lets hope they edit that out' Time for a change BBC I think.

PS it would be interesting to know what the manufactures (eg VW and Mazda) thought of the 'test' and how they feel about seeing their vehicles generally getting abused and verbally rubbished.

I agree that it was a waste of time and money, but I suspect Mazda and VW will be pretty happy with it. You know what they say about there being no such thing as bad publicity, and this got them plenty of air time. Plus I thought the cars came out of it pretty well - the Tiguan dragging that caravan through a mud pool impressed even me! (Not enough to buy one though.)

Clearly TG is becoming (perhaps it was ever thus) a marmite show. I, for one, look forward to it each week. Sometimes there are longeurs (car football, anyone...?) but, on the whole, it's pretty good entertainment, often very funny, irreverent, knowledgeable, likeable... and I believe Jeremy Clarkson really means it when he thanks the viewers for watching. He knows TG has the responsibility to deliver on the BBC mantra - to entertain, educate and inform.
If the format changed, the show would die. It's unchanging nature is its strength and what draws viewers. I think it's still the most popular show on BBC2, and BBC2 shows a lot of good programming.
Clearly all this is subjective, personal opinion but, for me, long live Top Gear! Thumbs Up ...
