Just a quick thread to say that despite not having my number plate size in stock, Steve ordered the correct size and after firing over my documents yesterday, I've just fitted them onto the Freelander with the stickier than hell tape I included and Roberts your uncle!

I didn't realise/know it is illegal to have a number plate without a post code on it until recently. yes knew about wrong spaced-size-reflective plates etc, but not that Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner |

I have nothing extra on my plates at all like postcodes etc - they are sold as show plates but as long as the spacing is all OK they will pass an MOT and not get you into trouble.

Anyone who makes a legal number plate - there that about says it all! ....Is required by the Vehicle Crimes Act to: View and record the personal details of the person requesting the plate View and record the entitlement to the plate (V5 etc) In manufacturing the plate it must show the British Standards mark, the maker and post code of the manufacturer, if this is not shown the alternative is to show who the plate is made for but this is only an option to other bodies registered with the DVLA for example make a plate for a registered garage, they then have a duty to record those details instead. Any other version of a plate is now illegal to make and I ask you not to support illegal activities, plates made this way are the reason that law was passed. Show Plates are also outlawed, the DVLA consider that any plate that bears a UK registration number is by definition a number plate and not a show plate. Sorry, but we jump through hoops to stay legal whilst the law has still to catch up with others. Edit: Police are generally only interested in correct type of plate and spacing. MOT is yet to catch up with little things like names -not really relevant to vehicle safety, but someone will slip it in later! It's all well and good clamping down on number plates, two weeks ago we had a vehicle leave our warehouse on a Saturday afternoon for Scotland, due to the heat the number plate sticky tape melted, the number plate was lost on route, the driver found it missing at Sandbach, try as he might could not get a number plate, he was due in Edinburgh for Sunday, Inverness Monday, due to the law he couldn't get a number plate as he obviously did not have the required documents, so trying to be legal was not possible as it was illegal for someone to supply the plates, so which is the bigger crime, having an illegally made number plate or drive for four days without one. The law is an ass. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

It's not the best one passed but we still have it easy, there are plenty of countries that issue plates via government offices and these can take weeks. Perhaps someone will vote for someone to fix it! Trouble is whoever you vote for the government always get in Paul Redding +44 (0)23 8052 2760 Order Parts Online at www.advancedfactors.co.uk |

Mines is illegal, no post code or suppliers name and a LR logo. Had similar on the Evoque and never got stopped, I think if the lettering is misaligned it draws their attention to it. The plates my dealer gave me are metal.

If you were involved in an accident is it an excuse the insurers could use to not pay out because of a dodgy plate? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
