IMHO it is about the car and, unless you have an age-related left foot ailment, age is irrelevant. Large / heavy / towing cars are best suited to Autos and, to be honest, I thought that was common knowledge. I used to like the feeling of 'control' with manual windows but I would never buy a car again with them - auto i.e. electric for me every time !! Seriously though, as autos become more economical and user friendly I do believe that manuals will disappear as manual windows have. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

Amusingly, I gravitated to autos because of an "age-related left foot ailment", or spinal disc collapse, as it's also known. Until then, I thought autos were for non-drivers. I now realise that faffing about with manual gearboxes is great fun in the right circumstances, but for 99% of the time auto is so much easier. And the FL2 is so suited to auto, I now do not understand why anyone would want a manual! It's not like we're looking to shave that last tenth of a second off a lap time....

2013 LR2 TD4 HSE Manual Fuji White

Young children drive cars that have a "go" pedal, a "stop" pedal and a steering wheel.
An automatic car isn't really much more than this and that's why I will never choose to drive one.

And this opinion is despite pretty much daily commuting in rush hour traffic. It's really not an issue, not sure why people complain about driving a manual in traffic, maybe these people have never driven a manual in traffic?

Ive wanted a Land Rover for ages, I bought a manual FL2 last year for what I thought was a good price. I'd buy another FL2 tomorrow but I would prefer an auto. I'm 37 and the the only auto I had was an Vauxhall Antara. Wife has an auto Astra, really easy to drive. Yes, auto for me next time. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
