Have you seen the pads, they are nothing like brake pads, they are like a brittle, one piece, plastic mushroom with an indent in the top where they contact the towball. I've just removed mine and cleaned up the faces. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

You could try a follow up with swift but they're likely to refer you straight back to the dealer with whom your contract exists. If they're offering to repair the damp, you're likely to have to accept that. I have heard of numerous cases though where due to the volume of water ingress repairs dealers are seeing, they are twisting Swifts arm to take them back to the factory for repair. See what your dealer plans to do with yours.

Alko stabiliser pads (side only) are about £22 a pair, trade. They take about 30 seconds to remove old and fit new. Only reason to replace at that age is if thy were seriously contaminated or they're too lazy to spend 5 mins with some emery paper to clean them. Alko estimate they're good for about 20,000 miles !! If they do wear, Alko supply shims to be added to get the stabilising effect back to spec. FL2 2007 57 GS

They make 0.3 and 0.5mm shims that can be fitted behind the pads as they are inserted to make up for manufacturing tolerance or pad wear. With these, it's rarely necessary to replace pads because they are worn. Unless you tow 20,000 mile a year ??!! FL2 2007 57 GS

Replaced the pads, though, when pushing one out a rubber gromit came out also, I put this on the new pad top and pushed it in, seemed to hold ok

Shocker ! Don't these manufacturer approved workshops have any quality control processes before they try to fob off the poor customer with their amateurish efforts with a sealant gun ?
