One side of me thinks that it is a shame that the original paint will need to be replaced. But the way paint is applied these days (and being involved with car paint process's through work) I am not worried at all.

Just seen the estimate, and the following is being done :-

Complete new door
New side step, as this was scratched.
New door mouldings on both doors.
All new door rubbers (seals etc) for both doors and the drivers door will be stripped and blended.
New rear quarter glass, as they are blending the rear 1/4 and I won't accept any masking.

So nothing is being taken to chance. The insurance engineer took one look at the car and said, we can't afford to cut any corners with this job. It has to be right.

So apart from the £350 excess and additional £200 non approved repairer excess which of course I am delighted about, I am quite comfortable with the fact she will be as good as new. There was no way she would go to their butcher approved repair centre.

We will benefit as well as there was a few stone chips on the rear door wheel arch.

Really sorry to see the damage and some little scrot has got away with ,
I changed my insurance this year to fully protected no claims ,£25 compulsory excess only (no voluntary excess)
£294 does pay to shop around .....
had an small bump f/n/s/wing stoved in when i got back to the car away 4 mins , local body shop sorted out for less than £150 thought I might need a new wing ..2 days and done very lucky !! best of luck
P.s. the body side moldings have already proved there worth 4 times ... supermarkets I H A T E them
Now use the wife,s car to go shopping ..!!! Wales

disgusting that they are charging a extra excess as you want to use your own garage

I would check the small print of the policy booklet, also i believe the garage is the one approved by manufacturers, ie they have a level of service, and its not the garage been approved by the insurance company so they get the back hander Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Im thinking we need a 360 degrees in car camera that works when youre parked.

Thats more than the usual parking dint, I doubt they didnt know they had done it.

Had exactly the same thing happen to me on my last FL1 back in 2005. I reckon a clumsy reverse by a van/light truck did for me. Insurance paid up bu lost a year NCD.

Sorry to hear about this Evil or Very Mad

I have a forward facing Blackvue camera with motion sensor fitted in my Disco 4, I think I need one in the Freelander as well now.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Out of interest, how did this affect your no-claims?

It didn't as we have got guaranteed NCD. I got my renewal through 3 days before the the car got damaged, so I have claimed, and then renewed after, and the premium didn't change.

But then again I should hope not, this will be the 6th year we have been with them without a claim.

It is distrusting, but they are all doing it now. Wen I shopped around before renewing, all 8 companies I tried had the same policy. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Blimey Mav, sorry to see the damage ! It makes me angry when a dork does that and drives off ! Hence why a always reverse in a space and leave the camera on !
Yours is such a great example.

Just finishing off my hols in France and Saw a Lorry reverse into a Passat and it just folded the rear end up like a cola can ! Driver did put a note under the wiper blade.

Hopefully you enjoyed you holiday old geezer. I'm currently on a ferry to Bilbao and about to start my holiday around Spain and France for 2 weeks with my FL2. Thumbs Up

I've seen an old lady in her Honda Jazz reverse into a Land Cruiser, twice! Shocked And then she drove off without leaving a note or details. Rolling Eyes

France is the worst place Ive seen for parking damage, the locals actually use the bumpers as bumpers and shunt the cars along to make space for theirs, the end car gets pushed off the end and out into the main road.
You have to leave the handbrake off so your car moves otherwise it gets smashed up as they use force to try snd nudge it along.
I would never take my car to France, especially Paris.
