If everything goes according to plan, I'm hoping to take delivery of a new FL2 Auto at the end of May/start of June. Given the general excitement of such an event it is easy to miss something and blindly accept the car from the dealer. So I was wondering is there a list of things that you should ask or check for before accepting the car? I was especially thinking of the things that may go wrong within a few weeks of ownership, that could maybe be prevented if the dealer applied a 'fix' before leaving the garage.

Also are there any recalls/mandatory fixes that should be applied before accepting delivery?

The only official recall I'm aware of is for the sunroof.

I have had some software upgrades done though, at various times that it's been back into the dealer.

You may want to check your log book when it arrives from the DVLA to ensure it states 5 seats too.

I (and someone else here too) had the fl2 delivered with the front tow hook cover in the boot instead of installed under the front bumper. You cant miss it its a big grey thing. And the car looks a bit odd without it fitted At work

Hi,
A few points that I missed when I took delivery:

Check that the service log book is with the manual
How do you want the wing mirrors to perform if they are retractable, I think that they can be programmed. Also in reverse they move which I want to have changed.
Have them set up the phone bluetooth connection for you, save you struggling with the manual.
There should be a pen holder in the glove box.
If you have Sat Nav have them walk you through the system as the terminology is differant from other systems and takes a bit of getting used to at first.
Well there are a few thoughts for you, trust that they help. I suppose that half the fun is getting to know the car and that may take a trip or to back to the dealer.

check tire pressures are 32psi allround inc spare (which can be a little higher due to not using it) as transporting is done with higher psi

Check alloys for kerbing and scratches around bolts, doors for dings, bumpers for scrapes

Check fuel level is full, coolent levels and oil levels

Check number plates match Tax disc and your insurance docs

check operation of seats and mirrors.

Check it the right colour and all the options have been added that you have paid for

Check you get two keys given

check audio system is coming out of all speakers

check interior for fitting of panels, scratches on plastic and windows, dirty hand prints on roof lining

Same here, but I asked what it was used for and after a bit of head scratching and asking around the sales guy found where it should go (lucky me, I had no idea at all).  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.
