Went to bed last night, turned off the bedroom light ready to settle down when I became aware of a red glow on the bedroom ceiling. No other source of illumination in the bedroom so I took a look outside.

The high level brake light on the Freelander was illuminated.

Got dressed (of course) and took a look around the car. All doors closed, no other lights on.

Open drivers door using the fob, light remained on.

Put fob into its cradle and turn on ignition, light remained on.

Started engine, light remained on, stopped engine, light went off and has remained off since and works in the normal manner.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Tigerbob - I had this problem on my old MY11 GS. It happened on more than one occasion, and the car spent 2 days in the dealers for them investigate. In the end it was handed back saying they couldn't track down the issue, but whatever they did do or disturb it stopped it happening again.

Its possible this could leave you with a flat battery.

Just doing a search and found this older post of mine,parked this morning and turned lights off stopped engine,on walking away and locking car noticed all 3 brake lights were on,put fob in turned on ignition removed fob and locked car all seems well again.
