Basically noticed today that the spray job on my spoiler is not fully hardened. It's very slightly tacky and will grip any cloth or even my finger nail when running across it.

I only noticed because it seems to 'swirl' and scratch so easily......

If I directly apply my finger nail it does leave a mark. Anyone know why this has happened? It will be going back but it's now stuck on with the hell tape, so not sure how it's going to be rectified to be honest.

Will this change over more time? It's been more than a week already.

Paint hasn't been baked long enough to cure it, it will need to come off and be re done, I don't think it can be re-baked but may be wrong.

I had the spoiler fitted to my white Fl2 by my dealer and the paint was good after a couple of days, this one was fitted at the factory.

Definatley quiz your bodyshop, as after a week it should be spot on.

As you say once they are stuck on they are a bit of a to come off.

Any good body shop should have a low bake oven to dry and harden your new paint, sounds like it wasn't in long enough  BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

This always happens to me. I've asked around and it seems that the new water based paints have this particularity. It will cure by itself on a couple of days. The theory says that as long as the paint doesn't stick on things, first stage is done and it's cured enough. The second stage will be done in several days, up to "rock solid".
So don't worry, just don't wash your car for several days in order to not scratch the (soft) paint. (This is also a recommendation of the paint producer(s)).

^^ as above. My trusted Bodyshop expert (albeit a Vauxhall one) told me much the same. Sometimes you have to detest Brussels for meddling with good old CFC unfriendly lacquer....it did the job properly for years! Foraging near Gaydon....

Unfortunately it's marked already and chipped in one place with 3 very small areas where it has reacted now?! Today was worse, with it being warm the paint was super soft, obviously all my panels were super hard along with sprayed plastic trim. It was sprayed/finished and fitted more than 10 days ago.

Surely a good body shop could achieve a solid finish? My point is I didn't buy a 22k car to have a poor spray job niggle away at me.

It was done by a local one man band who is currently moving business premises. I can only assume it didn't have his full attention. Yes I'm a perfectionist but surely professional trades should be too?

I won't be returning to the same bloke, even though he should rectify as the trust has gone. Friend of friend has a large body shop with courtesy cars and does a lot of work for Audi (dealer extras, repairs), should have gone there first off as it means paying again.  2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

Due to EEC regulation changes yesteryears old cellulose has gone except for industrial use.
Today the general finish is a water based colour (straight colour or metallic ), this is followed by a two pack clearcoat as a laquer effect.
The clearcoat is like an expoxy glue where you mix two ingredients which starts a chemical reaction so the paint 'sets' rather than dries.
With clearcoat you decant the required liquid and then add a tiny amount of hardener and mix up. There is a working life to allow spraying and within this life you need to clean the spraygun.
My thought would be that the spray man did not add the correct percentage of hardener.
Hope this helps with your consideration of who you use to refinish it.

Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate it.

I have been to another body shop close to my place of work, which coincidently is used by our fleet managers for minor repairs and were more than helpful in explaining and getting me booked in, they understood the need for a faultless job on a new vehicle and were interested in my machine polishing!!

They have mentioned the lack of hardener and that they will remove the spoiler, sort out the marks/blemishes and basically spray it again. It's booked in for Monday next week to utilise the warm weather to see if the paint will actually harden to make the correction easier for them.

They will refit using stainless fixings (as the Powerful ones are rusting already) and 3M tape.

Just had a check of my brackets,the brackets are fine but the screws are a little rusting, I'll have to get some stainless screws  BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders
