Just had the parking senors fixed,

faulty sensor that would sound when raining.

would have been better if they had fixed them back into holes, a simple wash with a soft sponge forced 3 out of 4 back into the holes, in next weds again, needs bumper taking off to sort out again.

They has also painted it a blueish grey instead of stornaway grey as they said my colour was not available yet and it looked better than black.

Since this post in June 2007

I have had my car in on numerous occasions for them to fix the parking sensors which are set off when the car has been stood in the rain.

The have replaced sensors, and the parking sensor module, but the car still beeps when the are active and do so until the car has been driven.

It now nearly a year on and still getting the fault, this is the one thing that me off about the car.

It must be something to do with water seaming in to the wiring/sensors/junction boxes when stood, as it is fine when the car has been driven in rain (the water takes a different path/route).

If it had some sort of display i could see which is been set off, but it just sounds the front speakers meaning front about to hit something.

Its in again on Friday for this and the sunroof and the knocking front suspension, and the key not opening my door when deadlocked (which they told me was a security feature ), I am starting to feel that i am been a bit picky on the cars inherent faults

How do I stand if they say there is nothing more that they can do, and its a inherent fault with my car? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Its not inherent to the FL2 as I don't have the sensor fault or the knocking suspension, although I don't have any advice on what to do. Phil

nothing to do with the colour - mine have alway worked perfectly  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

Originally the car had colour coded sensors

They replaced a sensor, and instead of leaving it black they painted it a different colour, this was in June last year.

There reasoning for this was they though it looked better than black, i presume they took it off another car.

Its been colour coded now, but took a few months, stating that the touch up kit was not available  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Just letting you know I get this problem too, but CBA trying to get it sorted, especially seeing the trouble you've had.

NP, maybe teh easiest solution is to move here instead, that way you can almost be certain that only one week of teh year will you have any issues

I had a new parking sensor fitted at the very end of December - the parts bloke sprayed it in Stornoway before it was fitted. I can't even tell which one was replaced, the colour match is so good!

Also, stornoway is used on lots of other LR models, so it shouldn't be just because the FL2 is a new one

Same problem here. I have been advised to take the car in when it is happening, it did it today but I was miles away from a dealer and too busy anyway. It is annoying and it seems that you are not believed when you raise the issue. I guess when the particular sensor is playing up it is easy to trouble shoot which one it is. I do see the dealers point but it would be nice to be respected as an intelligent customer.

I've not had any Parking-sensor problems (YET!!...)

But a quick question to those who have experience problems...

Do you/have you ever used a jet-wash to clean your car?

I know (OK, So I've been told...I never real the handbook!) that in the handbook it says not to direct the jet-wash at the sensors....

Thats the thing that has always stopped me taking my car to one of the many-springing-up "Hand car wash" (a few Polish guys with a jet-wash & a chammy)...I've watched them many times washing other suckers...er, I mean punters motors, and they never tyr to "miss" the sensors.....I wonder how many they have ruined over time? '57 FL2 GS

Never used a Jet Wash. It takes a couple of good wet days with plenty of spray and a few puddles on the road to give the car a good soaking. when the car dries the problem resolves itself.

I use a jetwash, don't go near the sensor, not since they pointed it out in june 2007, after the newel refit sensors popped back in to the bumper as they had forgot the retaining clips

They said when they identified the faulty sensor it had corroded and gone green, which is water ingress.

I think it is the way the water drains possible down the rear of the sensor, and i am going to ask if they can seal them from behind with silicone or similar. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
