Just on my hols celebrating my achievement in St Andrews and spotted someone familiar being ushered from a private jet at RAF Leuchars in some FFRR's. Couldn't be sure who it was from range as the cars arrived at the old course. Turns out it was Bill Clinton.

Congratulations Doc. My daughter received her Bsc (hons) 2:1 the same day as you. I know the hard work and dedication needed - and a 2:1 is not to be sniffed at - only those that walk on water get a 1:0! Anyway, you don't need to walk on water, you can use the Tardis! Well done! 3 of the girls got a first and a mate of mine got a 2:2 but its still a great achievement. I certainly don't think I am above my friend just because he got a 2:2 and the girls are very down to earth about getting a first. It is important to maintain that way of thinking in my opinion.

My final average percentage was 66.5% and a first comes in at 70% so it was a strong 2:1.

Interestingly, a few months back, one of the girls went to look around at the bar school at Nottingham. When she asked for advice, one of the guys said get a degree from a proper university I know about Uni rankings and name clout but thinking like that and saying it just makes him a turd.

The answers I gave on my papers etc would have got me a 2:1 even at Cambridge because the degree is the same across all the universities (although some lecturers will mark more harshly even within the same Uni). I certainly wouldn't take that attitude with someone from a supposed 'lower' university and Derby is very well respected in law anyway.
