HD (apparently) DVR Dash Cam - eBay Special! - Review

Well as some of you have probably seen i've been looking into dash cams recently, to protect myself and to assist others when needed.

Having done my research and looked at the likes of 'blackvue', 'roadhawk' and 'miwitness', I decided to take a risk and have a play with an eBay dash cam......and well, whilst its not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination, for £16.99 delivered, what did I expect.....and for some it may serve its purpose to identify the red car that cut you up and nothing more!

- It arrived promptly, from a UK seller;

- Its actually a very nifty unit, inbuilt GUI, fair few options etc, not bad at all, even the IR works quite well in the under stairs cupboard!!

- Here is the picture quality, apparently 5MP, actually looks like i've painted it!

- Just taken this short video of the dash cam in action, starts recording once it has received power, has an inbuilt battery, motion detector and loop facility with 2 min/ 5 min or 10 min segments with over-write. The footage is not bad, just looks like an upscaled VGA or similar, it's not bad for the price.

Overall, what did I expect, as the saying goes, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it is a duck. It looks cheap, it is cheap and clearly i've got 'cheap' results. Maybe suitable for something, just not sure what!

I will be contacting the seller re the purported 'HD' capability and aiming for a refund. Overall, buy cheap buy twice, now back to the drawing board and back to looking for a dash cam for around £100-150. On the plus side, got a new hi speed SD card for my Fuji Bridge!
