United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Santorini Black
iPod or USB

Hi all

Is there a way to get my car to connect to my iPod or to USB and be able to control the device from the stereo controls on the steering wheel and dash. I know I can use the 3.5mm jack but there's no control ability this way and I'd have thought a 2012 model should at least have USB!

Thanks Too many cars, too little time

I have a 2013 model and the USB is power only. LR confirmed this when I challenged it. I have the small screen stereo and they trialled it with all the media test sticks that I could see worked on the ones with the Meridian system. Pain in the back side I know......

You might be looking at a retro fit iPod lead.....or Bluetooth? I play my music through the cars Bluetooth system, some of the new Parrot kits allow media streaming. 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

I have Bluetooth for the phone but no idea about streaming music

Only had the car a couple of weeks so still finding my way round. Not sure what stereo is fitted but the speakers have 'alpine' logos on them, the head unti can play mp3 CDs and the radio is dab. Hands free phone works as you'd expect

Pre-2013 models the Bluetooth only works with a phone.
IPods can be played through the aux input but there is no remote control available through the steering wheel unless you buy the adaptor.
Post 2013 models fitted with SatNav and the 7inch screen have Bluetooth audio streaming and full IPod connectivity as well as the ability to play music and video through USB. Those models fitted with the 5 inch screen do not have the same level of connectivity.
