2013 XS Spec

Why have LR lowered the spec on the 2013 XS, heated front screen extra, electric seats extra, front sensors extra, footwell lights extra, auto dim dip mirror extra, and that's just to being with. Crying or Very sad

I find it strange too. But you do get full leather seats and colour coding as standard. It's the same with the GS, LR dropped things like auto lights and wipers but included full leather instead. On an XS you also have to pay extra for electric seats. Sad I think I will stick with my HSE.

The footwell light fittings are there on the XS you just need two bulbs! Agree about the other items though. After adding them on my XS plus sunroof I should have just gone for an HSE. Disco 4 HSE SDV6 Orkney Grey

I moaned too when I ordered mine in January and then the previous spec items were all thrown in at no extra cost - plus I got £2k off the rrp and, on top of that, an excellent trade in on the old FL2. It must all be a cunning sales ploy. Although. You get nothing for nothing - as they say! Firenze Red XS TD4 01/2013 . Averaging 1800 miles per month. My 5th Freelander in 11 years. Devotee?

Let’s all have a good moan, then perhaps LR will take notice? Have been a LR customer for over 26 years.

Really? Is there any thread on here that explains how to sort these then? I am in no way a car DIYer, but I can dabble with straightforward stuff and as I have an XS I might be tempted to put these in if someone could tell me how to do it.

Having said that if it involves messing with wires then I'll leave it be. Joanne

W5W bulbs, about £1 from your local auto parts shop. They just push into the empty bulb holders - stick your head in the footwell & look up Wink 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green

I cant see why they dont fit the footwell lights as standard if all they need is a bulb, thats real penny pinching on a car thats not cheap to start with in whatever spec.
Maybe theres a sunroof there too if you scrape the paint off then? Shocked

Well spent some time peering up into the footwells on both sides of the car but found nothing remotely like a bulb holder of the description mentioned above, so I guess the new XS's don't have the footwell lights either with or without bulbs. Joanne

Annjeo- just to add to the confusion we have two MY13 XS's - mine has footwell lights whilst my wife's has the fittings with empty sockets. Look again (they are not separate but part of a larger plastic moulding). Needless to say bulbs are on order!

Thanks IanH

Can you give me a pointer then as to where I should be looking? Along the side or higher up under the lower dash mouldings?

If I knew where they were positioned in a car that is supposed to have them I might be able to work them out Confused Joanne

Joanne - if you look in front and to the top of the fuse box in the passenger footwell you will see the location on that side. If you can wait until tomorrow evening I'll photograph the locations on my XS and post pictures on here.

Thanks for the tip re the foot well lights.
The fittings are there but should there be a cover to fit after the bulb is fitted to protect it against an ill placed boot ?
