I love my FL2 - there I've said it!

My FL2 has just passed it's MOT today - without any problems - just the same as it always has done Mr. Green

It has just turned six years old and has needed nothing in its lifetime but a rear wheel bearing, a power steering reservoir and a battery. It's remapped and gets driven hard - in all weathers back and to over the Pennines every week - plus some decent off-roading when shooting. I service it myself and make sure it is 'looked after'. As someone who has had experiences with almost all the major marques - this FL2 is proving a joy to own - and I cannot think of anything to replace it with as my day to day motor.

When I read that others have had problems with theirs they have my sympathy but I just wanted to give some positive feedback Thumbs Up

Well I have had my 2009 HSE for a week now ( I Traded in my XF for it ) and I can Honestly say I love it I have had BMW E60 and Jag XF since I sold my e39 M Sport and tbh I have never found any thing that I really enjoyed driving as much.

I know the Freelander is a totaly different kind of car and handles and drives completly different in all respects and it might be novelty value at the moment but I really enjoy the seating position the comfort and its looks.

I look forward to driving it and tbh I was worried about the 4 pot Diesel and diesel clatter as its the reason I sold the E60, it sounded like a black cab and really anoyed me concidering it was a luxery car. The freelander is really quiet in comparison even on tick over so thats a plus in its books, so mixed driving town and short motorway its doing 30mpg and done 230 miles to half a tank again happy with that the XF would be due a fill up about now.

All in all I know its only a week but so far so good, its going to be getting a good clean and wax this weekend as I feel the dealer clean when you buy a used car isnt quite to my standard lol

Hopefully I will keep this longer than the last 2 cars that have both managed 18 months before i lost interest in them and got bored driving them.

Plz excuse Grammar and spelling a Hazard of Dyslexia Smile

Picked up my FL2 Td4 HSE auto this afternoon after downsizing from a Discovery 3.

The grin factor definitely did not get smaller! Love the ride, comfort, Alpine sound system, and oh, everything so far.

And discovered the Chinese takeaway sized cubby hole in the boot to securely bring home dinner! Awesome.

Well I'll come out the closet as well, I love my Fl2 more than my Evoque.

I've never had a problem with a LR that has come from halewood, only Solihull. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Even with the oil leak I have... I love mine

I also use the cubbyhole hole with plastic bags I leave in the car.... handy.

I absolutely love mine. It's the best car I've ever owned. Yes it might have a few issues, but that doesn't make me love my car any less. (Only one niggle, the drivers door squeaks a bit when going at high speed). I will certainly have another!

Well here's the thing..... I came back to FLs 2 years ago, having had two RRSs, prior to which I had FL1s. I loved the RRS, it was comfortable, powerful and ate up long journeys. For the first year, I felt nothing but disappointment and couldn't wait to get back to a RRS, so started saving.

Two years on and with enough saved to buy the new RRS on the Advance Payment plan (which is how I buy my cars) I find I really like the FL2. I've done loads of long journeys of late and its been effortless. The car responds quickly, you can hustle it along if you want to or just let it cruise silently. The surround sound stereo is superb and the seats pretty comfortable. The real joy was driving through the alps last winter on my ski trip; sun flooding in through the pano roof as the car just drove on up snowy mountain roads, just brilliant.

I own the car outright, its fully loaded (HSE with Windsor leather, roof bars, side steps) and it only has 22000 miles on it. I'm seriously wondering why I'd blow the price of a house in some parts of the country for the new RRS when the car I have does just about everything I could want. It goes off road for shooting trips, deals with snow and costs 2/3 of f. all to tax and service. Mrs S is silent on it, but I reckon she'd rather I kept the car and the cash!

I feel very similar to Andy S - never thought I would. The FL2 feels just "right". It fits my life and costs buttons to run.

I've never had a day-to-day car as old as this nor kept one as long. Normally for me, they are in favour for no more than a couple of years and then I upgrade. The journey has taken me through various LR/RRs, BMWs and Audis etc. Sounds silly now but I was sorta slumming it by going to a FL2 XS but the cars were giving off the wrong vibe.

When friends / family / colleagues get new stuff I often appreciate the vehicles but it still feels right going back to my old FL2. The fact my FL2 is not worth much now just means the cost to change is greater and becomes less easy to justify particularly when I am so pleased with my current car.

The feeling is kinda confirmed when I give people a lift and they often remark how quiet and comfortable it is.

Like I said, I cannot find a reason to change the car and even though that is strange for me, the cash a new car would involve is doing no harm staying in my pocket Mr. Green
