Does the fitting of sidesteps hinder the use of the standard car jack for wheel changing.

I have a copy of the official LR instructions for fitting sidesteps and it quite specifically shows that you MUST undo and remove the sidestep before using the manufacturers jack.

Well, in a way, Land Rover are both right and wrong.....I've had punctures on two occasions, the first time I followed the instructions and removed the step. Not a big job, but you wouldn't want to do it in the dark and pouring rain. The second puncture, it was dark and raining and I found that if I kept the winding handle nearly parallel with the ground the jack worked without removing the step; not as easy as without the step, but better than removing the step if you follow my meaning! |
