Salisbury Plain - my first green lane

Went green laning (for the first time!) yesterday on Salisbury Plain. Met up with the guys from fullfatrr at the start, although we never saw them again! Laughing

I'll post some pictures later! 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green

Great fun isn't it? Never been to the plain in a car but quite a few times on the bike. You'll be trying to get the white mud and dust off for ages.

Sounds great. I haven't been off roading yet in my FL2. Only down a short muddy track. I'm still searching for some good places that are not too far from where I live. I'm looking forward to seeing some pics. Thumbs Up

Plain is very FL2 friendly as very little foliage to scratch. Off there mid July in the Classics for a boys weekend of laning, beer and steaks! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Been going for a few years now so maps all marked up and I use MemoryMap 2800 for navigation as lots of tracks out there so stay legal or your motor will be impounded Big Cry Stay on the byways and beware of any TROs.

Be aware of this:

Have fun and stay legal or we will lose the access Very Happy

We went with 2 other Freelanders and our mate, who has been offroading & greenlaning for 20+ years and knows the plain well. Bow down

He brought his Disco this time but has a Freelander2 so he chose a non-scratchy route which our vehicles could cope with. We went through one ford Laughing - loved the whole day and can't wait to go back.

I agree with DrRpb's comments - we were careful to stay on the byways and permissive tracks (having a knowledgeable leader helped for sure), everyone we met seemed to be behaving themselves and taking advantage of the unusual sunny weather. Very Happy 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green

At the initial RV there were "hundreds" of us - the old hands broke us up into small groups & we all set off in different directions Thumbs Up

Good stuff!
Was there a large "Plain Warden" presence out there?
I hope so to ward off the prats that get there to spoil it for us.
Can't wait for mid July for our trip Thumbs Up * GONE. GS TD4 Manual MY2013. Orkney Grey with privacy, cold and clearview packs, armrests (a must!) and a spoiler.

I didn't see any "Plain Wardens", although I don't know how to recognise one.

Enjoy your trip, I would love to do it all again but doubt SWMBO will grant me a day pass for a long while Crying or Very sad 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green

Jet-washing the mud onto my driveway the next day wasn't quite as much fun as putting it on the FL2 in the first place Laughing Laughing 2020 Defender D200 110S Pangea Green

Hey that does look good - I need to get mine muddy too, but new to greenlining and need to learn some of the roaps, so it would be great to join up with a group for an outing
