first long trip in new car

Just arrived in Switzerland after 1099.7 mile trip. in our my13 TD4 XS. which had just over 3000 on the clock before we left.
MPG over motorway, A & B roads & two mountain passes is 40.1 so very pleased, especially as the car was loaded & average speed 54 mph. Both these figures surprised me as I expected the pass driving to really knock the mpg even though I was driving pretty slowly as it was late & dark.

I'd like to post a pic but the info on how to I find a bit baffling.
Are there any easy links ?

I'll be on my way next Friday to Switzerland and then Italy towing a caravan with my 2011 GS.

I'd be happy if I get 25-28 mpg. Let you know when I return.

Tigerbob, I guess towing will make a big difference.
Are you driving via Luxembourg to fill up with cheap fuel ?

Where in Switzerland & Italy ?

Sounds a busy schedule. We're in the Bergell valley in Switzerland & it's not that warm at present. I hope it warms up before you start.

there is an overnight stop over with elec in the entrance to the langres site. We normally use it so we can head off early on the way to switzerland as the Barrier doesn't open till about 8 am if you stay overnight in the site. Thumbs Up

If that's directed at me it's a manual.

Mine is a manual.
