I don't know if this has been covered before but what is the best way to remove tar from the body work?? I've got some Astonish tar and bug remover and it doesn't seem to work. Today I've seen a tar removal sponge, are these any better??

Ive always used Autoglym tar remover. Just wipe over tar leave for 30-40 secs and then wipe off.
Failing that, their resin polish works quite well.

Clay the car, takes the tar spots off effortlessly.

WD 40 or White Spirit both work really well.

I'm also a user of Autoglym tar remover, works wonders  BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Spot on, clay is the only way guaranteed to remove all of it.
All other products just empty yer wallet and don't do the job properly  Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

White spirit has always worked for me. Some on a cotton cloth but do not rub, wipe over area and return after about 5-10 minutes and you will clearly see the tar bleeding then just wipe over with same cloth. MY13- TD4 XS Mauritius Blue, Privacy glass, Cold climate pack, Tailgate spoiler, Armrest pack, LED signature, Body side mouldings, Full size spare and finally Mudflaps

I can understand tar spots getting on the car during the summer when the roads are warm but I bought my Freelander last November in showroom condition and now its covered in the bloody stuff!
