Annoying Knocking Noise

Yes I know it is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a knocking noise from somewhere behind the drivers seat?

It only started on Friday but it is driving me crazy (and because I am listening for it im hearing it even more!) and at first only occured when I braked or accelerated. I thought it might be the locking wheel nut located under the right hand tray so removed it but that wasnt the cause, I have even removed the load cover but its not that. Now I get the knocking noise when going over bumps which is making me think it could be something with the suspension to the drivers side rear wheel?

Will the Landrover dealer think I am a wally by going in to complain about something so trivial? Evil or Very Mad

oh and yes - I dont hear it if I put the radio on loud before anyone suggests it!! Rolling with laughter Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

i had a noise coming from behind the drivers seat, it was more of a rattle that a knocking, it turned out to be the heat shield.

If it is coming from further back i would guess suspension bushes Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Its does seem to be coming from close the drivers seat (thought the seat belt holder in the b pillar but have ruled that out) How did you overcome the rattle from the heatshield? (and where is it and what does it look like?)

I have had a look under the drivers seat and the air circulation vent tube (or whatever it is called) was a little loose , I pushed it in so its nice and tight and had a drive around the block and the knocking is still there Big Cry

Could it be something with the suspension? The car is only 2 weeks old??? Question Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Do not be afraid to pursue this with your dealer. Go back and ask to take a technician on a drive to demostrate the problem. I've got a couple of noises that drive me mad, you must demostrate the noise to LR staff if there is any chance of them fixing it.

It also helps to have somebody else in the car while you concentrate on the driving rather than trying to explain. Often the techies have experienced the same rattle o vibe before and know exactly what the cause is too. How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

I have a knocking noise from underneath the drivers seat sometimes you can feel it,only happens occasionally and only when cornering or accelerating. I think it may be the seat height adjustment mechanism but can't be sure

Maybe a dumb question but is everything secured in the boot properly ?.... things like the spare wheel (if you have one) and any other items you might have in there. ______________________

the heat shield is underneath the car attached to the body work and is normally shiny aluminum above the exhaust Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Took the FL2 to local service centre today and took a technician out with me, just my luck that the knocking wasnt as bad as it has been but the guy who came out with me was about a 100 so I doubt he could hear me anyway!! Rolling with laughter

Have booked it in for them to a have a thorough look at it next week - I am narrowing it down to either the drivers side rear door, rear wheel / suspension or that bloke I run over last week still entangled in the chassis Evil or Very Mad Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
