Any one used alloy gators?

Only reason I ask is that my uncle who has a Golf RS32 keeps rimming his alloys and he is looking at getting a set, I told him to get a FL2! Never rimmed mine! lol I just wondered if anyone had used them so I could give my uncle some feed back about them. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Wouldnt they hold all the muck etc round the edge of the rim? and they must also flex slightly? wouldnt this abraid the lacquer and allow corrosion to get a grip on the edge?
I think if you bump the kerb hard enough to damage a rim the strip would rip off anyway?

Just need to be careful how you drive and stop using the kerbs as a braking device.

I have not used these but out of the various brand names and different fixing methods these seem to get the best reviews.
They actually do stop small knocks etc against kerbs, think the tyres need deflating or partially deflating to fit.

The stick on types have had bad test results, they offer poor protection and tend to get knocked off.

You'll hardly get any damage with 17'' wheels due to the profile of the tyre.
19'' are more susceptable Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

I was referring to FL2 wheels and not VW Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

A few years ago they came about on RRSport, one tried them and they kept coming out at the joint, whipping the side of his car, I believe they the tried to redesign them to make them stay put a little better but not heard since Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I suppose they would be less liable to come out of they could be fitted without a joint and made diameter specific for each size of wheel and stretched over somehow to fit, but then they would cost more as with the jointing process one length of strip fits all.

I noticed they use superglue? I wonder how many folk will be taking a wheel down to A&E Casualty Dept with their hand stuck to it too?
