Road tax group for GS auto & do I dare change ?

Hi Guys
just renewed my Roadtax now £280.00 , looking at Parkers guide for 2.2auto says should be £220 but suspect Parkers is incorrect.

Anyone know what it should be for 2008 Gs auto ?

Also big dilemma, car shopping tomorrow, do i buy another Freel2 and cross my fingers or XF2.2 ?

If I went for another FR2 where are the best deals currently?

Hmm? The site I looked at said £250, you need the co2 figure from your V5 then look at DVLA tables to be sure but £280 sounds high?

hi SteveD

Thank you, I am currently away from home and cannot access my V5 document to use the DVLA site, what's your road tax as yours is also a 2008 auto ?

whilst I am away been trying to car shop & decide what to buy ! just had to tax the FR2 as that's expiring whilst away ! just had 4 tyres & MOt and service & road tax so that's knocked a hole in nearly £1500 quid !

For the first time its just managed a whole year without anything going wrong & two days past the 12 month mark and now the NSF window which is rarely used has gone wrong for the third time !

Many thanks

All down to CO2 emission levels. Pre MY2011 the 160 bhp engine produced higher levels of CO2 than the MY2011 150 and 190 bhp engines.

As a result road tax for a 2008 GS auto is going to be higher than a 2011 or later TD4 or SD4 auto.

I've had 2 Freelanders a 2007 and 2011 and am seriously considering changing to a 2013MY. Had a few minor problems with both but they were caused by Dealers. Also regularly use a 2013 Freelander at work and it is probably the most reliable vehicle in the fleet.

The 160 bhp pre MY11 auto is band K = £280 and the MY11 onward (td4 and sd4) auto are band I = £220.

I've had 08MY, 11MY and now the 13MY the best one by far. The first two had no problems but it's too early to tell with the current one only had it a fortnight but so far so good Thumbs Up

Go with a 13MY freely. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Thank you everyone, yeah looks like my tax was right for an auto. Big difference for the manual model !

Went to a Jaguar Dealer nearly 50 miles away & the dealer was rolling over with enthusiasm ! ( NOT )

Claimed they had no models left in stock and no demonstrators & if I was interested to come back next week ! like
I just go for a jolly in the car for no reason Big Cry

I did actually call at the Land Rover dealer I bought mine from on the BH monday & that was closed ! the one day I get a chance to focus on wanting to buy a car & no one wants to sell !
