Just seen this on Ebay

Has anyone painted their tyres before? Does anyone think it looks good or is it a naff idea to paint the tyre? I've got Grabber AT's, was thinking about doing the out line of the name part of the tyre. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

i think it will look like a botch job, you won't get neat straight lines at the edge no matter how you try

think white writing on the tyre walls is a little 1980's also  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yeah, think I agree with you both. I was at a car battery place yesterday, I saw a Discovery with green paint on the tyres. It looked quite good at the time but I doubt with my artistic skills i'd do a good enough job!!

Steve, type paint actually damages the rubber compound over a period of time - quickens the cracking process of rubber due to the compounds/pigments in the paint, unless of course it is water-based which is unlikely.

Tyres are not designed to be painted - thought that went out with 'Arthur Daley' type garages, besides if they did look good we would have patent type side-walled tyres.
