Block Heater - Petrol Models

There apparently isn't a block heater (not fuel nor electric) available for the petrol models? LR service says it would screw up the car's electronics. Is this really true? There is one for the diesel models. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

The one on the diesel is there for emissions - to heat the engine more rapidly when the ambient temperature is less than 5C and to assist getting heat into the block so that the passenger compartment gets warm air more quickly on cold days as the high carbon content block of the modern diesels used in all modern Land Rovers is very very thermally efficient and takes for ever to warm up. For example I have a 1996 Defender with the 300Tdi engine - it is fully warmed up and on the Normal sector of the temperaure gauge within 3 miles of leaving home..... I am lucky if I can get the RRS up to the normal sector and warm air coming out of the vents within 10 miles of home unless the FBH has cut in. I just wish that Webasto would finish developement of the remote control timer for it then I could pre-warm the car.
Isn't there an aftermarket Webasto system available for the gasoline engine? How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?

LR service here recommends the electric Defa Termini 2000 cabin heater ONLY. No block heater recommended for the gasoline units. This sounds odd to me. There must be more to choose from... 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6

I have installed petrol heater Webasto Termo Top E with Telestart 100 remote. No problems with electronics. Additional CAN adapter installed to switch on ventilation fan.

Diesel have special version for LR Termo Top V integrated into CAN to be able to work as autoheater (outside temp less 5 deg, coolant temp less 65 deg - auto on) during drive. Freelander 2 HSE i6 Tonga Green
