Servicing.....An alternative to Main Stealers Costs??

Hi,

Not that we need a service till next year, but just browsing the net, came across this site.....

http://www.servicingstop.co.uk/

I'm quoted (in my area) £143 for an interim, or £225 for a full service, collection & delivery from my home as standard, Their service schedule can be viewed here......

http://www.servicingstop.co.uk/ServicingStopServiceSchedule.pdf

Seems to be a fairly 'upfront and open' company, has anyone here used them? Weather you have or not, very interested on your opinions !

PS if nothing else, there is at least an interesting, 'Dragons Den' video to watch on the main site! Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

Take a closer look at this company on the internet. There are many complaints and Deborah Weadon of The Dragons Den has disassociated herself from this company. Why pay someone to collect your car to take it to the nearest garage for servicing. A local independent will give you better service I'm sure. Tread carefully.

Yes a google search shows many unsatisfied customers , so one to avoid , no quality control on garages who carry out the work .

Hi,

Must admit I posted this link without too much research, and in no way was it a recommendation. Thought it would be helpful to get a reaction from those knowledgeable souls on here....looks like that bit's working!

When the time comes I will certainly get a quote from my local dealer that supplied the car (guess who;-), but if its way more than seems reasonable, will have to look elsewhere, which presents a bigger problem, how do you find an indi with not only the knowledge but the specialise equipment for our very techy cars?

In my next village there is a very good honest 'one man band' type of servicing garage, and when we had the Suzuki GV, he did us proud....but I think servicing the the Landy is somewhat more involved. Kola is the big solid black German Shepherd, Dobbie is.......a breed you've never heard of......yet;)

I have always used main dealers whilst under warranty with varying levels of satisfaction , I bought a new FL1 (2001) and took it back for its 1st service and was told I could collect at 4pm .
Well got there about 3.45pm and saw that it was parked in exactly the same spot as I"d left it , no prob said the receptionist we will have it ready for you in an hour .
I negotiated £100 off the bill and never went back , my next door neighbour repairs/services cars ( been in business 40 yrs ) and has always serviced the families cars.
Not cheap but car taken and returned and never had an issue , my MOT/Service is due in Dec this year (supplying dealer warranty runs out Feb 14) so considering weather to use him whilst its still under warranty or use a dedicated LR service shop .

I've just had a 4th year service, Duckworths at Boston quoted £456 and were the cheapest main dealer. Hunters at Lynn were £458 (started at £503). I went to an independant and paid £253 using genuine Land Rover parts upon my request. Main dealers and Land Rover need to look at their pricing. 2009 FL2 GS

England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black

Had my 3rd service done at an indie in Huddersfield who was apprenticed trained by Rocar Mores. 215 quid for service and brake fluid change. I could have gone to somewhere like Kwik fit as at the end of the day it was only really a oil change, but I wanted someone to do it who had worked with LR previously. I think I got quotes from 4 indies in West Yorkshire and the prices varied from 215 quid right upto 370 quid, then the main dealers were quoting something like 450!! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
