I get the impression it is not one of the Freelanders strengths...... Mine has been fine this past few days of warm weather but today (cooler) has become erratic again. having spoken with my local L/R specialist I have decided it's mot worth wirrying about. eh tu? |

I have a manual my11 with this Eco stop start thing, I thought I had it sussed but on a recent trip into Sheffield it would cut out as expected but then restart within a couple if seconds, I spoke to Martin, service manager at gs Sheffield who explained that there are so many variables that the car monitors that if the cars sensors

My 2011 GS Eco worked fine until last week when we had the warm weather. The manual says the engine has to be warm before the Eco works. Mine now cuts in when the engine is cold. Also it doesn't work at all when towing my caravan. It doesn't bother me that it has decided to not conform. |

Thanks for the replies to the Eco part, but my biggest concern is when it starts up it runs as though it is firing on 2 cylinders and shakes violently turn it off, restart it, working ok, this has happened 5 times in the last year. Has anybody out there experienced the same. (manual) |

My Eco Stop/Start works fine virtually all the time and when it restarts the engine sounds fine. If yours sounds like only 2 cylinders on restart I suspect there is a problem which may come up as a fault but more probably won't. A trip to a Dealer may be required for it to be checked. |

My Eco last worked around December. It would stop the engine then after a couple of seconds start back up. I do a few short journeys a day so i'm thinking the battery is not fully charged? Who knows, there are so many variables involved maybe the wind in Huddersfield is blowing in the wrong direction?

On the subject of the stop start, I read on another forum that the ECU might need resetting. Yesterday I disconnected the battery and touched the wires together. The stop/start still didn't work. BUT on my way home from work tonight the stop/start just started working! Dont know if its related to the ECU reset or not, but atleast its working again! Mine stop working for 2 days after a service then started working again and now after a trip to the panel-beaters (after some young kid texting went into the back of me) it hasn't worked now for a week. |

Strange thing with my stop start this week! I disconnected the battery as I read the ECU might require a reboot as the stop start hadn't worked for months. I worked a couple of times last week. On Monday the van at work had a flat battery, I jumped it off my FL2, the stop start is working non stop now!! I had the car hooked upto the van for about 15 minutes so i'm wondering if this has charged my battery in someway? Now the strange thing I've noticed today in traffic is that I don't need the hand brake to be on for the engine to turn its self off when stationary. Is this right? I though you needed the handbrake to be on? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Phew Kola!! Thought for a moment there was something wrong with my handbrake!! Must admit, last couple of days the stop start has worked the best since I bought it a year ago, I'm quite impressed! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
