United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

I have plenty of patrotic bones thank you. I have owned lots of British cars. The Mazda with nudging 260 BHP from its 2.3 direct injrction petrol lump was -and still is - an awesome SUV. In 50 odd thousand miles it never missed a beat, never broke and always delivered an involving and fun driving experience. Much as I like my Freelander, you just can't hussle it on A and B roads like you can the Mazda. Minimum body roll, decent steering and a better boot.

Don't get me wrong, I love JLR products. TATA being a great British company right? 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE

2004 MG ZT-T 180 + V6 Monogram
2011 Mazda MX-5 1.8 Miyako (PX'd for the Landie)
Others of the past of note have included
MGTF 160, MGF, Ford Puma, Volvo V40 T4, Volvo 940 Wentworth, Rover R8, Volvo 360 GLT, Chrysler Horizon GLS.

Well given that they design their innovation centre is 15 minutes down the road from me, and their cars are built in the same factories that Land Rovers and Range Rovers have been built in for years, using I assume predominantly staff hired in this country, yes they practically are British.

You wouldn't be far from the truth saying they are more British than Toyota are Japanese...
Toyota, who design cars in France/Belgium and then build them in Britain, the US, Canada, France and the Czech Republic and who market completely different cars here than they do in Japan. Ever heard of the Suceed, the Porte, Probox, Passo, Isis, Premio, Wish, Allion, Aqua, Noah, Sai or the Vellfire? Didn't think so...

I just didn't like the patriotic bit. You don't know anything about my patriotism or otherwise.

As for cars. I hope JLR continue to make cars in the UK for ever. I'd not buy a car purely because it is British, German or whatever. I do like the fact my MG was built by a British firm but its not a deal breaker.

I'd also say only Lode Lane can build a proper Landry. Well it's what I tell my Scouse mate Smile 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE

The 3.2 is a fantastic machine, I would like to see LR reintroduce a petrol engine to the range. My annual mileage doesn't justify a diesel engine.

Don't get my wrong, I love my 3.2 I6 here in the US, but I'd just loooooove an efficient diesel. Our fuel prices here aren't as cheap as they used to be! Evil or Very Mad

FWIW, the 3.2 is no more here. They've replaced it with the turbo 4 banger. CAR HISTORY
