Noisy turbo... MY07

Just wanted to get your opinions folk.

We had the car remapped a couple of weeks ago (Motech performance in Northampton)

Mostly to get rid of lumpy running problems at low revs as it made the car prone to stalling or us prone to slipping the clutch a lot.

When we picked it up it ran great (no lumps) but just once or twice I noticed that it seemed to run out of puff at 80mph. But usually it gets there and keeps pulling.

Anyway, I kinda knew that the clutch had started to slip very slightly before the remap so I got the clutch replace and picked it up today. New clutch in and the turbo is very noisy. I can hear it spin up and down and the running out of puff thing is happening more often. Now I can hear it, it sounds like the turbo's boost is being bled out at around 2.5-3k rpm. Kinda like letting the last of the air out of a tyre.

I spoke with the remap chap who said it sounds like a split pipe or a dislodged O ring. He said I'm welcome to take advantage of the money back guaranty but not to worry as it's not my turbo about to let go and it's not going to be anything else potentially terminal. He has always struck me as a smart and honest guy

Any suggestions as to weather my man is right or wrong? Anyone had experience like that? What might my garage have disturbed when changing the clutch?

Ive not had 1st hand experience with it but from what ive read on here theres a grommet at the base of the steering column that's prone to popping out of place that seems to give the same problem as you are talking about

Could be wrong but its worth a look mate

The turbo will have a max boost pressure rating that once it s reached, itll not go past regardless of revs. All the variable geometry stuff does is get the turbo up and spinning sooner to that the air passing over it is more efficient at the various speeds.

Maybe your remap has a reduced amount of fuel at the higher revs which is lowering the top end performance ?

Has anybody got a picture of this grommet in place. Im on my 2nd freelander and the engine noise in this one is definately much loader.
