Sounds like it may be coming out then, shame but it wasn't planted there it has just survived coming up through a shrub used as shelter, hence its twisted trunk.

Photo looks like birch or even a bit cherry.

Any trees close to the house should go IMHO they cause problems.

I have just spent the last week sorting out the remnants of getting a 70ft x5ft wide sycamore tree cut down to base..Cost was £200 plus wood..I have been like some mad archeologist following roots all over the bloody garden..I am shattered..

These are the trees that the logs are from , someone says they are Manchester Poplar used commonly as screens around grounds .
