LED sidelights & MOT

Just wondering if i should leave my white LED tower light bulbs in the car for its MOT?

They were bought from Hids4U http://www.hids4u.co.uk/LED-sidelight-bulb...egree.html

One has all 4 LED working, were as has 3 out of 4 working and appears just as bright so i have just left it

If its on dodgy ground i was thinking to swap them back to standard 501's for the day

No problem as long as they show sufficient white light - I can't imagine anyone failing it on a single blown LED Thumbs Up Cheers,

Same LED's as you. Car returned from MOT with them in the centre console storage and incandescent lamps fitted. If you have the originals. Fit them. Stealer rates to fit a sidelights must be astronomical if it costs £12 to fit a fuse!

i think it might be better to fit them on the safe side then Thumbs Up

I can't see anything saying they meet the kite mark or E on them too, or anything on their website either, but then im not sure if they should anyway Confused

If it doesn't take too long to change over, then do it I'd say.

The website link you gave above. Are these the exact ones as I thought they should be ok for Canbus system; and I cannot see this mentioned?
I'm after a pair for my Freely and possibly the wing mirror lights also. Are these the same lights for both?

Cheers

Wonder if the Audi's will come back with the LEDs in the glovebox too?

Why would they, they are original equipment and type approved.

MOT should be scrapped anyway, what a useless waste of time it is.

My old Freely went straight through the MOT with Led's fitted yet Asinrute has the same ones in his and the MOT station changed them, could just depend on who is doing it and what mood they are in. Be a Censored to fail it on that.

Technically it's a fail, a pass proves how rubbish the system is.
I would hate to be failed on this, I have LED fitted but you only have to look round at some of the cars on the road and you wonder how on earth it passed.........or how much they paid for the certificate

First MOT today.
All OK, but had my wrist slapped for the LED sidelights.
Fortunately I know the garage well and they let it through when I showed them the originals in the glovebox.
They did say it was technically a fail as the LED's aren't white(?) and next time I'll need to change them.

There is probably an issue that the car may not be CE approved with LED's fitted.

Assume if you fit LED rear light bulbs then too, they will be in the glovebox when the car comes back as well?
Not red enough? Rolling Eyes

Possible if the light unit isn't type approved for use with LED's or even if the LED's don't carry the CE mark. Not supposed to fit anything to your vehicle that doesn't carry a CE mark.
