Are we alone in the Universe?

Of course I know the answer to this Laughing . In all seriousness though, I think there is an abundance of life out there but the universe is so vast, the odds of finding any signs of intelligent life are slim.

Consider this:

1: Scientists have studied a handful of Earth like planets that are not too far from Earth (relatively speaking)
2: I once read that if you could travel at the speed of light, you could go around the planet 7.5 times in 1 second. Pretty quick but it would take a colossal 93 billion years (approx) to cover the diameter of the 'observable universe' at that speed
3: Hubble ultra deep field & extreme deep field images captured approx 15,000 galaxies in the images focused on a pin prick of space. Within each galaxy there are millions or billions of stars. Some will have the potential for orbiting planets with life.
4: There are theories of approx 1 trillion galaxies within the observable universe

Pretty narrow minded to think that in all that space there's just us! There's even evidence of water on mars which is a key ingredient for life.

Please debate away but only one logical answer for me and that's a big fat no!

I would like to think there is some form of life out there somewhere, plants, water etc but im not convinced that E.T is out there booking his two weeks all inclusive to planet earth. I don't believe that species from another planet have ever landed here, but then you never know, some of my bus passengers tonight looked like they had just come from Pluto, in fact I think one of them thought he was still on it. imagine the little green men driving their space ships down our roads with their sleeping pods towed behind. slow enough to be a pain but too fast and too wide to be able to safely overtake.

I believe there is life elsewhere, having been to Yorkshire I can vouch that it is possible for life to survive in hostile environments.

The latest discovery of planets in the "habitable " zone, 1200 light years away, I won't be holding my breath for a trip over.

Of course not, the odds on us been the only planet with life on is minute compared to the trillions of planets out there

On the opposite side of the universe there supposed to be a doppelganger earth where everything is exactly the same but in reverse.
FL2's have clutches that get better with wear and LR dealers pay you to take your car in for a service. Laughing

one or infinite...

...

If only one universe, then, given its size, I believe that other life exists. The numbers indicate that that's likely. The prob is that the distances involved mean that unless an intelligent life evolved (eg) 5 billion years ago in a galaxy that (was or is???) 5 billion years away, we'd miss any signal. The size of the universe means both that (1) there's likely life elsewhere, AND (2) we're VERY unlikely to EVER establish contact with it.

Now, if there are infinite universes (in line with some current theories) then clearly life is infinitely abundant.

On the other hand, the BBC have only sold Top Gear to the rest of THIS planet so perhaps they've tried to sell it into the Crab Nebula but there was no-one there? Rolling with laughter That would explain the facts!

Just take the batteries out of the remote, that's sorts them out, gives you peace and quiet while they look for some more, just make sure there aren't any. Laughing
