Centre diff bearing fault?

I live on the Def2 forum but a family member has a 2008 FL2 with 85k miles which has developed a problem with the centre diff bearing. Apparently LR are aware of this problem and the diff needs sending off to see if it can be repaired, or if it has to be replaced. Has anyone here had the same problem? Is it a common fault?

I've recently had my diff bearing replaced. I'm also an 08 plate with 75k on the clock. Farnell Land Rover in Bradford quickly diagnosed the problem and carried out the low level repair. All is now working well. I would strongly recommend you contact them.

Thanks. Did you get the repair done free of charge from LR? My relative has been quoted £600 for repair or £1200+ for replacement.

No I had to pay as vehicle isn't under warranty. I paid £420 but you can pay much more at some of the other local dealers. Get in touch with Farnell.

A mechanic can trace the fault by suspending the vehicle and listening to the various components as they run to confirm where the noise is coming from.
