It states in the manual that the spec of ATF should meet ESSO JWS3309,I am wondering if Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF meets/exceeds this spec and can be used on my '08 TD4 HSE? Any comment is appreciated.

I used it when changing the oil in my 2010 Landie. Took it to the LR dealer just for the sake of checking my "ability" to complete the procedure without any diagnose gear...they said the Mobil 1 ATF 3309 is the right stuff so go ahead with it. Cheers Small roadrunner...

Yes, the 3309 is correct, but the one he's talking about isn't...

So, don't use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF

Use this one: Mobil ATF 3309

One thought across my mind,will it be a good idea to put Militec (a synthetic based metal conditioner) into transmission system for better lubrication

I don't know how much it will cost you for replacing ATF in GB/Europe,but here,in Taiwan,I have to pay NTD 13,895 (about GBP 300) for the job in a LR dealer

Here, in Romania, the oil is about USD20 per liter, 7-8 liters, and the job is DIY or about USD50 per hour at various car services.
Don't use oil conditioners... You know, on autoboxes, the better lubrication isn't the key factor...
Most of the time the friction plates and bands need an oil that better "grips" than "lubes"...

I'm all on with Alex on this one...leave the oil as the producer recommends..don't add anything...if you really want to spend your extra bucks wisely change the oil regularly...your transmission (or engine for that matter) will gracefully thank you !
Spending less than 100$ each 4 years and thus keeping in tip top shape a 50.000 $ car seems like a fairly smart deal to me ! Just my 2 cents...  Small roadrunner...
