Cyclist in London are a breed of there own.

You can't compare them to the rest of the cyclist across the uk!!!! I find that slightly offensive

And yes cyclist are subject to laws etc, you would struggle to slap points on a cyclist for speeding tho!!

I was behind a bus recently waiting at a set of red lights. There was a cyclist (in all the lycra gear so must be a proper cyclist) going mental as he could not get up the inside of the bus so he could get to the front of the que! I thought the cyclist was daft as to be honest the bus was about the width of the lane. I think there is a mix with cyclists, same as motorists, some good, some bad. So what will happen if this becomes law? After an incident the car driver will hang around and wait to be prosecuted, or just keep on going...

Seeing cycling in Netherlands is an eye-opener, dedicated lanes for bikes (and scooters), and pedestrians have right of way over bikes, bikes over cars. Much better to be segregated but costs and space not so easy to find over here.

Hi all
I nearly took a cyclist out good and proper the other day...dozy he was doing about 20mph on the pavement saw some pedestrians a short distance ahead and decided to do a quick sideways sort of jump off the kerb right in front of me in the live lane...wow it was close and he finally looked around a nano second later to realise what he had done was pretty dammed close. Had the neck to give me a glaring look as if it was my fault for being on the road.

And they wonder why some people treat them with no respect.

We cyclists pay the same road tax as the cleanness cars on the road £0.00 because we burn no fuel un-like car do !!!

If the laws come in LIKE there are I think in Holland !! (everyone will have to think what they do on the roads !!!)
I Think the law states the bigger party is always to blame !!! ( freelander is hit by an x-trail ??) freelander's fault.)

All we need to do is to slow down a little on both sides, leave for work 5 minutes early and no ones in a rush !!!

City driving is a battle for survival whether on a cycle, in a car or just being a pedestrian. We all want to get somewhere and none of us are innocent if we can see 'a gap' that needs filling. We are a lone independent, no friends with all others being our enemies, we take no prisoners until the battle is over and we reach our place of work, we then revert to being a nice person again

Outside of the city it's more sedate, we tend to drive better and have compassion for our fellow users irrespective of what form of transport they have, our anger is forced on each one of us by our surroundings and our circumstances. Mind you 20-30 lycra boys in a line, or two abreast does get annoying at times if it goes on for too long, I feel like toppling the lot into the roadside ditch

I'm a 'Jekyll and Hyde' character dependent upon where I'm driving, but can tolerate all users most times. I cycle only in rural areas and wouldn't dare enter the city on one but out in the sticks I'm treated pretty well by car drivers.

Don't agree with changing the law simply because of size.

BTW, I pay my road tax so think I'm entitled to hop on my bike once in a while.
PS What happens to a 'fart' when wearing Lycra does it just show up as a moveable lump.

Excellent clip, but hardly surprising. The police frequently consider themselves above the law and definitely do not take kindly to being questioned. I have been tailgated several times by police late at night, and can only assume they are trying to push me over the speed limit. I followed one for many miles a little while back and he never once indicated!
My brother in law had an officer cut straight across the motorway from the outside lane to the slip road. No lights on, no siren, so my B I L followed him and questioned him on his dangerous driving and was told he needed to come off at that junction! You couldn't make it up. Law and order starts with those who enforce it, and if they are seen to break the law then why would the public behave any differently.
No wonder we are where we are as a country...
