I'm heading up to the lakes in August with my wife and 7 year old lad for a few days, was thinking about having a few extra days but not sure where to go. I dont know the area north of the Lakes, I was looking for an hotel really with some nearby attractions that will interest my 7 year old. Any one been anywhere nice?

You could try Centre Parcs near Penrith.
Plenty to occupy you son for a few days.

Inn on the lake has great views but a bit shabby. Mainly used as a wedding venue.
