2009 FL2 35000 miles, Software recall done, Rear diff noisy especially under load uphill

I know this topic has been covered many times before but i can't find any info on doing the rebuild yourself. The repair kit seems quite reasonable at �150 and as i've always done all my own maintenance i am keen to do this work myself. I am a very experienced engineer with access to good tools.
Any advise very welcome
