Nah, I do not think it is a write-off.

Just the cost of the motor trade suggesting otherwise - costs have got out of hand, and in some instances, over the years the insurance companies themselves have been the reason!

I always carry a camera and always game photographs of the cars involved, shots of the area, shots of the driver, shots of the passengers, everything - just to make sure that no comeback occurs! BTW one insurance company tried to blame me after an accident and was at full pelt to make a claim. They slowed down when I said I had pictorial evidence, even asked to see a copy! I of course declined and said that they can view them in court! They backed down and paid for my repairs. Twisted Evil

Apologies, Nah! Bunch of 'horse manure eaters' Censored

Back on topic - much of that work you will be able to undertake yourself! Just price up the bits you cannot do, then you should break even or perhaps in profit for your trouble.

The only downside is that if the accident was not your fault it is a bummer Embarassed 'There is thunder' then 'There is the warble of a V8'

I sorry but you clearly don't know the industry at all.

A landrover service department charge over £100 per hour labour rate whilst a body shop will be around £38 per hour.
Where and how have insurance companies been increasing cost of work ?

Would seem so to make such a sweeping statement like you have.

Ex bodyshop and currently working for an insurnace company. Motor trader 25 yrs.
would list all my accreditations but really can't be that pathetic.

Anyway as its been confirmed the vehicle has been and is an insurnace total loss. So your "nah I do not this it is a write off" and you listing your life history counts for jack Censored .

Thumbs Up

Now please tell me how insurance companies have increase cost of repairs ?

Why would a insurance company not repair something that is economical to repair and insist its a total loss and pay the policyholder retail ? That doesn't make scene.

The car has a value, within that it has a salvage CAT value, this will give you a repair up to figure.

If the original poster was to get a increase on value (which he should) then the repair up to cost would also increase and possibly make the vehicle repairable. However it's impossible to say as we don't know what I surname company is dealing and what there salvage rates are.

If the OP wants any further info I'm happy for him to pm me.

Wish1,

You obviously do not read the messages correctly before you have a rant!

I stand by my professional comment it is not a write off!

I have repaired vehicles ten times worse than that!

You are the one would suggested I did not know what I was talking about!

Truth is I know of very few body shops who do not make a living out of the trade, and if you look at the millions of pounds that the insurance fraternity make Whistle oops you know that already since you are part of that fraternity!

What I do know is that it is the poor motorist:
Who pays over the odds for a vehicle
Pays over the odds for servicing
Pays over the odds for repairs
Pays over the odds, o'h yeah! For motor insurance...

And it goes on!

Next time you have the bible in your hand.... Go on convince yourself that your lot treats the everyday motorist with honesty and integrity!

Nah, do not bother - your comments are likely to be a write- off Yawn 'There is thunder' then 'There is the warble of a V8'
