It was in fact LR that wanted to shall we say, increase the spec of certain components within the 2010 engine and increase the power but Ford were not having it and stated that the engine didn't need it.

Then when they saw the results LR got, Ford adopted the LR spec engine for the Ford range too, it was the same story with the 2.0 Turbo petrol as well.
