Hello, just joined this forum and this my first post. Picked up my 09 HSE yesterday from a main dealer in the West Country and have spent most of today playing around with all the switches, pairing the phone and loading the CDs. Now my wife is only 5 feet high but has had experience in driving large cars, but when I put her in the driving seat she can't reach the pedals, and that is with the seat fully forward. In fact I only have to have it back a little for me to be comfortable.

I suspect the previous owner was perhaps 7 feet tall and maybe an adjustment was made by the dealer to cater for his height, thus losing some of the forward movement. OK I am probably talking out of the back of my head as such adjustments cannot be made. I have spoken to the dealer regarding my concerns and a technical guy was going to ring me back, but no surprise there, no contact yet. Has anyone found such a problem? or is this a common fault?

your not clear, does seat lift up/down electrically? you have tried pushing the seat shaped switch up and down havnt you

Sorry, didn't state that it is a fully electric seat and all the adjustments work. Raising the the seat right up does move it a little closer to the steering wheel but it is still some way back and even with the backrest almost vertical she still can' reach the pedals. The passenger's seat moves much further forward than the driver's.

My wife is 5'4" and easily reaches the pedals. You say the passenger seat moves much further forward than the drivers seat. Maybe the whole lot has been moved forward. Does the drivers seat move back further than the passenger seat then? If so, that would confirm the fact that the whole assembly has been somehow moved. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

That's a good point. I will put both seats fully back in the morning and see if the driver's goes back more that the passenger's and I suspect that it will. I will update tomorrow, thanks.

Bizzare! My 12 year old son had an impromptu driving lesson in the snow in January in my HSE, and he managed to reach the pedals ok without any major problems. He's only 4'9!

Must be something stopping the seat runners, Mrs ad is 5' 3" and has no problems.

Never mind fixing the seat, get a wife with longer legs!  John

Can I recommend you go to any LR dealer and get the Wife to try another FL with electric seats to see if she can reach the pedals.
If she still can't reach then possibly ask Liam at LR on the forum to put you in touch with a disability car equipment supplier as somebody is probably making a set of seat runner adjuster bars that are a certified professional modification .

Now trading in the wife for a longer model was on my options list but then this morning the dealer rang inviting me to come in and they would try and sort it while I waited.

Then I thought I'll have one more go at trying to sort it myself, and bingo, the switch was obviously sticking and suddenly the seat went all the way forward. Quickly dragged the wife out and jammed her in the small space behind the wheel and let her slide the seat back gently until she had it right then stored that into memory 2. Fingers crossed I then selected my settings in memory 1 and then went back to memory 2, perfect

Many thanks for all the replies including the humorous ones. We're both nearly seventy and I don't think I could have been bothered with all the hassle of trading in the wife, probably a lot cheaper to trade in the car.
