Gearbox problem

Hi,,my 07 hse manual gearbox now has only 3rd,4th and reverse gears,,i have checked the cables and linkages an all are still connected....any body got any ideas as to what the fault could be???...many thanks. Crying or Very sad

What sort of feeling is there when trying to engage 1st, 2nd, 5th or 6th? Still seems that the cables are favourite at this point. John

It only has 3rd and 4th an reverse....it feels like stirring a large bowl even when in these gears...but it wont go into 1st 2nd 5th or6th at all. Confused

you say it selects 3rd and 4th.

does it still select 3rd and 4th when you push it into 1st/2nd and 5th/6th? (never mind, read your update )

one cable does the forward back, the other the sideways ( although its odd that reverse gets selected )

Although cables look attached, you need to check they actually move. That'll need 2 people to check for movement.
