2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black
does the freelander 2 have a cat ?

After seeing a picture of an exhaust on ebay I was intrigued to take a look at mine underneath the car. Mine is the back box and then a straight pipe all the way to the engine cover and then I cant see any boxes further down the line Crying or Very sad When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

I'm pretty sure the cat is built into or right next to the exhaust manifold. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Its up front, close to the manifold - good news as it makes them harder to pinch Thumbs Up

Number 4 will be your 'cat' and in place of number 10 will be a bit more exhaust pipe.

Here is the cat on mine. This is from my 57 plat uk freelander TD4 so no DPF.

It sits about 40cm down stream of the turbo. Which can be seen in the pic below along with the lambda sensor.

I have had thoughts about removing it or replacing it for a cheap sports cat to get a wider band of usable torque. Bit concerned it might cause the boost to spike a little too much though, and would probably need a custom remap to get the best from it.
