I'm assuming that I have 2007/2008 discs as the DVD case I have in the car has EUROPE 2007/2008 on the box and has two Europe DVD's in there. I assume that the UK DVD is in the car but I haven't physically checked it. However, you say that the 2011/2012 one is easy to cancel route guidance and recalculates routes if you divert from the chosen guidance route. Mine does that now so I'd best check it later when Debbie D comes home from work tonight just in case it already has the 2011/2012 disc in there. Are you sure that the 2007/2008 discs don't automatically re-route? Dunkley201 in an earlier post seems to think that it doesn't. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Santorini Black

I didn't use my sat nav much with the old 2008 discs beacuse it was a pain to use, so I could't say if it re-routed automatically. Once I updated to 2011 discs it just seemed easier. Cancelling now involves tapping 'menu' & 'cancel guidance'. With the old disc, cancelling a chosen route seemed to involve lots of searching to find the cancel function.

Strangely, I still input directions to Ikea & Cheshire Oaks, even though I know how to get there Confused I think I just like to know how long it'll take to get there. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

What Dunkley201is saying is it cannot work out a quicker route if you deviate from the dedicated route, it still tries to take you back to the chosen route. It will automatically reroute you but not to the shorter route, just the original route.

Just checked and I do have a 2007/2008 disc in the player. So, a 2011/2012DVD will be purely a map update and nothing operational will change, is that right? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

There will be a bit of firmware update, little things will change as others have said, easier to clear the route, little things that you don't notice straight away, then think was that their before Question

If you can get the 2010/2011 discs cheap enough from e.bay it is worth it for the road & minor firmware updates.
I notice that Duckworths (site sponsor) are offering the 2011/2012 disc for £130 +vat. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!

Just a quick update.
After running around Dorset for the past week & using the sat-nav virtually all the time, I can say that mine definitely re-routed quickly once I turned off the initial planned route. It didn't once try to turn me back to the original route unless I'd turned off a major road (dual carriageway etc). But then it planned a new route across country if I ignored it.

On the rural roads it simply re-calculated & re-planned a route, just as a TomTom would.

My disc is 2011/2012.

I notice that Duckworths (site sponsor) is offering the 2011/12 for £109+vat now, or 2012/13 discs for £120+vat if they can get 5 people interested. Poke it, Poke it, make it do it again!!
