My VED is due for renewal end March. Is it worth getting the renewal before the budget on Wednesday?

Wife'f FL 1 tax runs out the same time so made sure I applied for it last week online (you can apply anytime before 5th of month before). It arrived on Saturday so no problems. We were caught out a few years ago and had to pay the extra. 1982 RR Classic-converted to 200TDi-gone
1992 RR VogueSE- converted to autogas-gone
2000 FL1 3dr (wife's)
1996 Disco 1 300 Tdi(gone)
2007 FL2 TD4 GS auto (gone)
MY 2011 SD4 HSE Automatic

Surely it does not instantly go up? I thought it went up from 1st April after each budget!

Mine also runs out end March so i nipped to the Post Office today for renewal Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Mine runs out end march had the reminder so don't see how it can effect me as I have a document from DVLA stating how much I have to pay.

Automatically goes up each year by at least a fiver, bit like a standing order, surprised its not got VAT added too, wow is that something theyve missed?
Oh and admin charge and £6 extra for not having direct debit set up on it

Nope. It goes up instantly! Maybe from midnight but certainly more or less straight away. Hence the the red warning on th this month's renewal form "The rates of duty were correct at the time of printing. A different rate may apply following any budget statement."

I was caught a few years ago and had to pay the extra.
